Priesthood Sunday

This Sunday, October 29, is designated as "Priesthood Sunday".

Priests for Life wants to help you honor the priests whom you admire and who have served you well. They ask that we send them their names and a few lines about how they have helped and served you to: mail@priestsforlife.org. They will place the names of the priests on a special honor roll on their website.

If you need a recommendation, may I suggest Fr. John J. Blum. I've known Fr. Blum for almost 15 years now, ever since I met his sister (who's now my wife). He is a true preist with the mind, heart, and spirit that are examples for all of our priests. He is truly devoted to his calling and is an inspiration to everyone that knows him. You can find more about him on his parish's website at http://www.stfrances.org/vm/index.asp?vm_id=19&art_id=14426&sec_id=26193#section27121

The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.

And oh, how they persecute Jesus today and so also His priests. A priest answers the call knowing that the Enemy lies in wait for him daily. And yet they still come, running to enter into His priesthood!

How I admire and take courage from them. Priests are the bravest men I know.

Thank you for your vocation, Fr. Blum.
